Two Xerox iGen3T printers, owned by QuantumDigital, have been operating at the Ohio hub since November 28. While QuantumDigital will be providing the equipment and training, DHL employees will be running the facility and providing the space.
“It’s a unique twist,” said Eric Cosway, CMO of QuantumDigital, which is based in Austin, TX. “It’s a great use of shared capital between as all.”
The partnership will allow QuantumDigital’s customers to have their orders processed and filled as late as 2am and still have their products delivered by DHL via next-day shipping.
“Out of Austin we can only take orders as late as 7pm in order to still ship overnight,” said Freddie Baird, COO and EVP of QuantumDigital.
In addition to greater transportation efficiency, the partnership will also save QuantumDigital on shipping rates, Baird said. And, the benefit goes both ways: DHL’s solutions group saw a big benefit in having an on-site digital print facility at the hub. Until now, DHL has not had on-demand printing capabilities at the site, Baird added.
QuantumDigital’s clients include AT&T, RE/MAX, John Deere and Sylvan Learning Centers, among others. It has four Xerox iGen3 printers at its Austin location. The two new printers at the DHL hub will increase the company’s output by 50%.
“It’s a huge competitive advantage,” said Cosway, adding that he hoped the venture would serve as a model that could be replicated across the US with DHL.
